Roadtrip to Health, Destination #Fahn
It seems the craze is following whatever fad or finding whatever can be used for accountability. For some, simply knowing a change is necessary is all that it takes. For others of us, change is overwhelming. While it may not come in the form of hoarding, or appears as being lazy, change isn’t easy for everyone. As you may have observed, if you’ve seen me, I am a bit larger than average. 5’10” and ### lbs. I have had a few health issues over the last couple of years, which were highlighted when I was working out regularly, with a trainer, 3 years ago. When going to the doctor, despite being solid (almost) muscle, the only thing doctors can talk about is the need to get me to a healthier weight. Nevermind that I worked out and ate no junk (fried food, oversized meal portions, fast food, snack cakes, etc). In spite of the fact that I literally worked out with my trainer that morning. Let's also completely ignore the collection of D’s (and more alphabets with weight gain) I carry around on my chest. The only thing doctors focused on was the number on the scale. This, of course, led in the opposite direction of a healthy journey. I began to slow down with the workouts. When I did remember to eat, it was whatever was available. It took about a year to remove any evidence that I was ever healthy.Which brings me to my point. A few months behind schedule, my 2017 was supposed to be about removing my issues and getting healthy. In February my mother went into the hospital again, and endured a painful struggle that lasted until May. And while being concerned, I also began to recall most of the issues she had I was already starting to worry about them (glucose/insulin management, heart health, foot pains). Not to forget my father, most of my aunts and uncles, and great aunts and uncles suffered some form of cancer. At the ripe old age of 31, I found myself needing to get myself together.
There are extreme measures, that overwhelm and cause crashes. Most of the 20394987652894719030 Youtube videos I’ve watched seemed to focus on simply paying attention to what and when you eat. I would like to try some dietary changes – keto, paleo, Jesus diet, etc. I would also like to get more into crossfit (I went to a trial class and loved it, but my body shut DOWN for about a week). For the time being, I decided I needed consistency. I want to do something regularly until it becomes a habit. Although I didn’t follow through with my plan to fully begin in January, I have gotten better at meal following through with meal planning and prepping.
If you follow my social media, you may already know I am quite transparent. I have makeup-less, hair in a mess posts, as well as my version of “beat” and put together. However, I still am not at the point of sharing my bra size or weight (a topic for later discussion). However, I will have you guys know I went in for a biometric screening (for my insurance…and $400 HSA dollars) on June 17. I moved closer to 300 lbs than I ever imagined… As of June 29 I am down 5 lbs, thanks to meal prep, light intermittent fasting (when I remember), recording what I eat, and moderate activity. I do want to bring you all on this journey, as I become more consistent and continue to monitor weight loss. With ALL of that being said, please let me know what all you guys care to see. My meal prep, my **Yunmai Body Composition Scale, MyFitnessPal, join me in **FitBit challenges, or join Fitbit all together with me :-) , my haphazard grocery shopping, whatever can help on this journey. I mean if you want, we’re in this together; let me know what you want me to share on this journey and I'll try my best to make it happen! **Friendly affiliate links to lead you to some of the products that are coming on this journey with me.
