Au revoir à 2018

Greetings lovely people!

It is truly a...time to be alive. I know, Hey y'all! I've been busy being busy and I'm back for y'all. Because I love you's; I truly do. Fortunately, I am dropping back in at that time of the year where things start coming into perspective. Whether you are happy, lonely, glad or sad, these emotions affect the decisions you are making right now and can either increase those feelings or change your whole outlook. That is what I am here for! For this very reason, many of us are choosing this time to set plans and make goals. Let's dig in here.

I am aware that I am terrible at setting goals. I run full speed doing everything, 100%, from day one (every last goal), then become overwhelmed and drop them off along the way. However, this year, I finally managed to set some goals and follow through...better than usual. So with that being said, I wanted to share a 2 Part Blog on how I am setting my goals for 2019. I am pretty excited to share this, especially now that I have found out about the #OneLittleWord (or #OLW) alternative to making New Year resolutions. I decided to choose my word and use it to structure my goals. It helps that my #OLW is the missing link from all of the goals that I ever set and dropped off at the next stop like hitchhikers. I will discuss my #OLW in the next post, BUT I wanted to walk you all through how I simplified my goalsetting process, to prevent abandoning them in this upcoming year.

Here are 3 steps that I am taking to make goals that I can actually stick to for the next calendar year.

1) Think about the big picture, when I sit and look at it all, I have a lot going on. I put everything in my life on different priority levels, this helps me to prioritize what and where the changes are needed.

2) Now that I know where my priorities lie and what I want to change, I can determine how I want to execute those changes. This helps to identify the sacrifices associated with accomplishing each goal. (Remember, life presents challenges that we occasionally try to avoid, but getting past them helps us to grow. Accepting this was difficult for me, but finally accepting it has taught me how to not crumble at the thought of defeat.)

3) Once I've weighed out what I want to change vs the necessary sacrifices, I can begin to set my actual goals and add action items. Here is where I can begin to apply the SMART goal setting method to my goal setting. One BIG goal looks scary, but if I break down each goal into measurable parts, then I can knock them out and create new goals.

Here is where we will cut off today. Now that we have gotten into my process, and showed you all my baby steps, the next post will delve into growing these thoughts into real-life goals.

That's about all I've got to say about that. I'll see you all in less than 48 hours as we build up to our finalized goals and my #OLW for 2019! Comment below if you are a part of the end of the year goal-setters or do you set your goals at a different time? Also, let us know how you are going to implement the changes that you'd like to make? I'd love to hear from you!
